Welcome to Carmel Presbyterian Church

Thank you for choosing Carmel Presbyterian Church. We look forward to your family being a part of the Children’s Ministry.
Our Sunday school is lively, innovative, fun and challenging! We have adopted the Workshop Rotation method to meet the learning styles of all our kids. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, or would like to volunteer, please call. There are all kinds of ways to nurture life-shaping faithfulness in children.

Sunday A.M.
Preschool: Ages 3 & 4 - Jesus used everyday things of His time...rocks, fish, coins, dirty feet and more...to communicate powerful messages! Then He involved His students in meaningful, unforgettable experiences - like foot washing. That's active learning! It's the same type of learning that our children at Carmel experience each Sunday with Group's Hands-On Bible curriculum. This year, your children will learn about:
Fall: Creation, Noah, Abraham Winter: Jesus' Birth, Jesus' Miracles, Zacchaeus
9:30 A.M. Sunday Morning
All children ages 3 through 5th grade gather in the Upper Room for prayer and fellowship. At 9:35 a.m. the 3's and 4's go the Pre-school wing with their teachers for their Sunday School. They will keep the same teachers throughout the year. The Kindergarten-5th graders depart to their particular workshops after prayer. Each workshop rotation lasts 6 or 7 weeks with seven stories or themes per year. The teachers may change every rotation.
In His Steps Workshops Include : Storytelling, Cooking, Hospitality, Drama and Dance, Games, Art, Science and Geography, Video and Computer.
Worship Readiness: Children ages 4 through 1st grade are encouraged to participate in Worship Readiness during the 10:30 a.m. worship hour. They can sit together in the front of the sanctuary to join in the service and, following the Children's Time, leave to begin their own special worship. This class, led by adult volunteers, meets in The Upper Room for story telling and then moves to the Bethany Bible room for crafts and games in the Children's Hallway. Using the book Young Children and Worship as a guide, the remaining time is spent experiencing and worshiping God using a sensory-motor style of storytelling, so God is experienced, not just studied.
Children's Choir: Carmel Children's Choir for children ages 5 through 5th grade. The choir sings regularly in worship throughout the year. The highlight is the Christmas Pageant, a musical including a social gathering for the entire church to help start off the Christmas season. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 4:45 pm in the choir room.
K.I.D. S. Club on Wednesdays: On Wednesday nights beginning September 18, the K.I.D.S (Kids Interested in Doing Something) ages Pre-K-5th Grade will be studying C. S. Lewis' The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. This is part of our Knowing Nights program.
VBS: Carmel Presbyterian has one of the largest and most concentrated Vacation Bible Schools within the community. This past summer we had over 130 children participate in our program. VBS is offered to children aged 3 through the 5th grade. Our 5th Graders have a strong emphasis on service projects. We are blessed to have so many church members, parents and youths volunteer to help with our program. This past summer we averaged over 30 volunteers a day with 15 adults and 17 youths...impacting our children for Jesus! For information contact: Carol Harris charris@carmelpresbyterian.org
