Band of Brothers groups on different days and at different times are being formed now. Please get in touch if you are interested in more information.
What is Band of Brothers Ministry?
Scholar Kenneth Bailey notes, “One of the striking features of the traditional Middle Easterner is his gregarious nature. Life is lived in tightly knit communities. The leading men of the village still ‘sit at the gate’ and spend literally years talking to one another. Often there seems to be a subtle pressure not to introduce the information that will settle the question under discussion: “We have a wonderful discussion going, do not close it!
… No matter how much I win, if I win it alone, I lose. Love is the ball game.” 1
“I know of no more potent killer than isolation. There is no more destructive influence on physical and mental health than the isolation of you from me and us from them … The devil’s strategy for our times is to trivialize human existence by isolating us from one another while creating the delusion that the reasons are time pressures, work demands and economic uncertainties; by fostering narcissism and the fierce competition to be No. 1.
… Of course, we all say that relationships are more important than money. But we constantly cheat relationships for the sake of work or money. There are no TV shows called “Who Wants to Be a Great Friend?”2
“We cannot make friendship and love happen. They come, when they come at all, as gifts. But we can make space for them. We can work at reestablishing family fun and meaningful rituals.” 3
“It’s not that the ABCs of attendance, building and cash suddenly become irrelevant. Churches that are “in the Spirit” simply spend most of their time working, planning, and praying over relationships. It is their recurring experience that their most cherished goals are met as they help their members grow in their commitment to Christ as Lord; understand their identity as lifelong learners of Jesus; enter and sustain a relationship with a spiritual mentor; teach another person the basics of the Christian life; listen for God’s voice in the context of a small group; step out of their comfort zone in the realm of mission.” 4
Vision:
Band of Brothers ministry are men who gather in small groups and “sit at the gate” in regular Christian fellowship for the purpose of experiencing Biblical community, personal transformation and discipleship making through mentoring and multiplication.
Mission:
Transformation of hearts and the equipping of men for Kingdom leadership through a small group outreach ministry whose focus is the reading, discussion and application of wisdom found in Christian literature.

Symbolism in the Poster
There is a veil over this world. "Their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand." (2 Cor. 3:15) So most people do not even see that there is a spiritual battle going on for our lives, hearts, and souls. "But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, then the veil is taken away." (2 Cor. 3:16)
The three lights at the three points of the cross represent the Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
The power to overcome evil in this world has been bestowed to the full body of believers through the death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. This is represented by the beam of light from the cross to the circle of men.
Each of us has been given special gifts that we were created to wield for the noble cause of Christ. But to have complete victory, we must unite and engage together as brothers with Christ our King. This is represented by the circle of men standing side-by-side.

Overall, the sword-shaped celtic cross is symbolic of a man's decision to follow Christ "no matter the cost." (see Luke 14: 25-33)
In this ministry of the Band of Brothers, we will strive to live and relate to each other with the Courage of the Father who was willing to sacrifice his Son, the Humility of the Son who was willing to die for us, and the Unity of the Spirit - currently residing in all believers.

Gordon Dalbey- www.abbafather.com
"This book pioneered the Christian men's movement. In an era when masculinity is often dismissed as violent, destructive, and at best, unnecessary, Dalbey calls for a renewal of godly courage and strength in men as lover of a woman, father, worker, warrior, and church member.... Every man starts life with a natural, life-or-death dependency upon the woman in his mother's womb. In order to grow into manhood, the boy needs a father to call him away from the woman into the company of men. Men today can't do that for their sons, however, because their own fathers did not do it for them. This deep wound of abandonment festers in the masculine soul." (Excerpt from Dalbey's website) |

Robert Lewis - www.rmdk.com
Robert Lewis is the teaching pastor at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Ark. Raising a Modern Day Knight addresses the questions: What does it mean to be a man? Moreover, how does a father instill these qualities in his son? Robert Lewis shares a unique approach to shaping a boy into a man by equipping him with three essential elements: a vision, a code of conduct, and a cause (Christianity) in which to invest his life. If you have a son, it is important to initiate him into the Greatest Battle of all time, and to give him a vision for his rightful place in the larger story. From the website link above, there is some wonderful material (video series, book, workbook, journal, etc.) that dads can use together to usher their sons through a right of passage. |

Acts 8:26 - 31 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked. "How can I," he said, "unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
