Isaac’s Friends
During the time that Steve Cathcart was pastor at Carmel, he and his wife Margaret, started a ministry for the more “senior” people of the church. The original intent was to meet at the home of a church member to have a fun (“Isaac” means “laughter”) social get- together that would include a meal. After a number of meetings the location was moved to the Fellowship Hall and became a “lunch” program. It was at this time that the group began to put together day trips to various local sites, such as the Glencarin Gardens in Rock Hill, SC. even an overnight trip to the Carolina mountains. Through the efforts of a few members of the Knowing the Word Sunday school class, Isaac’s Friends has continued and now is a viable ministry where they continue to have day trips to local places like Narroway Productions, Bob Timberlake Gallery, and the Levine Museum of the New South. There also has been an overnight trip to the Barter Theater in Abingdon, Virginia. Even though this ministry is slanted toward the “seniors” of the church, the welcome sign is out for anyone in the congregation.
Other Events May Include "Plays" Or "Concerts"
