Women’s Circle - Fast- food restaurants. Rapid weight-loss diets. On-line shopping. The Internet. Getting rich quick. Today’s society looks for instant gratification and results. More. Better. Quicker. Richer. Often the values of our consumer society shape our view of discipleship. We demand instant godliness, overnight “success” in the Christian life. As a result we end up discouraged and frustrated by the shallowness of our walk with God.
Discipline is not a very popular word today. We tend to think only of its negative connotations. Somehow we have lost the positive biblical emphasis on discipline which leads to freedom and joy in the Holy Spirit. Paul’s instruction to Timothy reminds us of the importance and value of a disciplined life: “Train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” ( Timothy 4:7-8). Come join the Women of Carmel’s Circle group on the 2nd Tuesday of each month September- May as they study the Christian Disciplines to strengthen their foundation and deepen their relationship with Him and each other.
Women of Carmel Bible Study - Discerning the Voice of God - Having a hard time knowing what God is saying versus what others are saying? This Bible study from author and speaker Priscilla Shirer is designed to help participants know the voice of God: His language, character, and tone of voice. This class meets every other Tuesday night from 6:30-8:30 pm for 6 sessions in member’s homes starting September 25 and concludes December 4. The orientation meeting will be Tuesday, September 18 from 6:30-8:00 pm at the church. The cost for the course materials is $15.00. Please contact Becky Szeyller for more information.
