"PHILOSOPHY" 
At Carmel Presbyterian Weekday School we nurture the full growth of each child -- socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. The very "specialness" of each child will be emphasized through the loving guidance of a Christian staff. The program's major goal is to create a warm, loving, child‑size, child‑centered atmosphere based on the needs and interest of toddlers, two, three, four, and five year old children. .
Guiding the behavior and development of preschool children is an exciting and challenging responsibility. Very young children require a stimulating, yet developmentally appropriate, environment that fosters the growth of the total child.
We strive to expand the child’s world through art, creative play, music, drama, exploration of the natural world, and storytelling, as well as the beginning concepts of colors, shapes, numbers and letters. Children learn best by “doing” – exploring, questioning, problem solving, and creative play. Each room is a place where the child is invited into an atmosphere of experiential learning through play. We try to give children time to be children. They will never again be preschoolers and their work is their play! This program seeks to provide a warm, loving, child-sized, child-centered atmosphere where each child can safely explore talents, skills and interests.
We believe each child is a child of God and therefore worthy of love, acceptance, and support. By modeling Christian love with a variety of activities and flexible teaching methods, our staff is able to nurture and enrich the self-esteem of God’s littlest ones. Our desire is to grow well-rounded preschoolers that leave our program happy, confident, with a good self-image, and eager to learn. That's what the preschool years are all about, as we lay foundations that a child will continue to build as they grow.
We encourage a working partnership between school and home to provide the best possible experience for children. We welcome questions, suggestions and visits at any time.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Children at Carmel are treated to many special events such as storytellers, special visits from Discovery Place, Children’s Theater, Officer Friendly, and firefighters, Fish the Magish, My Gym, World In Our Backyard and other wonderful things. The children have music once a week. The church staff offers our children Bible stories on a regular basis.
SUMMER PROGRAM
We are pleased to offer our families a summer program for toddlers through TK.
Summer 2012 will bring four weeks of summer camp. Summer hours are 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Children bring their lunch from home.
“Let’s Go Camping” - June 5th-7th & June 26th-28th
“Nursery Rhymes with Mother Goose” - July 17th-19th & 24th-26th
